ARTICLE #5 CHOOSING A PRODUCT TO MARKET ONLINE Here are some tips to choosing a product to market online... 1. Light and easy to ship. Avoid bulky items like furniture. 2. Downloadable digital product like e-book or software. This completely eliminates shipping and handling costs. And also digital goods earns higher commission, as much as 50 per cent, if you are selling for someone else. 3. Not perishable or fragile. Perishables require fast shipment. Fragile items require special handling and packaging. These special requirements can increase postage and handling costs. 4. Has enough demand but not so much competition to make your business profitable. One way is to check the Search Engines to see how frequently people search for the your product choice. Then check the number of times people searched for this product against the number of sites competing to sell it. You can do this easily with: NicheBot AffiliateAlert has a free sofware program that gives you information on the newest and hottest selling products on Clickbank. The upgraded version gives you the information in real time. You can have privy information on the newest products that many people don't own yet. 5. If you own a website, the product must be relevant to the content of your site. If your site is about dogs, you should not be marketing weight loss pills, unless they are meant for dogs! 6. Product that does not compete with big online companies like Wal-Mart, Amazon. Big companies enjoy economies of scale. They can buy things cheaper in bulk, and they can sell things at a loss for longer period of time. Having
taken into consideration the above tips, the result would
be one or more products that fit into a niche market. A
product that is relevant to your website...that has some
demand with little competition...that does not come into
direct competition with big online companies. |
